Congratulations, it happened! You are engaged and loving every minute of it. Now comes the seemingly hard part, where in the world are we going to have this wedding? I will let help you know how to find the right wedding venue.

When you start searching for the perfect venue, you have to prioritize a few things to make the best decision. Grab some tea or your favorite wine and your fiance. Ask one another, what is the most important things to you, when it comes to the wedding. Does the date or time of year, take precedence? What about the location? Or are you flexible as long as you get a specific venue or type of venue (private estate, hotel, industrial, vineyard, etc.)? What about aesthetics? This conversation is not just important for guiding you through the process of choosing a venue, but will be the foundation for ensuring you both have the wedding of your dreams.
This conversation with your soon to be life partner, will give you a general idea of what you both want and put you one step closer to your perfect day.
Here is how to find the right venue for you:
Decide on a venue that aligns with your vision
The perfect venue will be one that allows you to have the perfect wedding whether that means, walking into an elegantly staged ballroom, only bringing in the elements you need, or constructing an entire venue space from floor to ceiling on an empty parking lot.
Location, Location, Location!!
Do you want to have a destination wedding, or do you have a venue that you have been eyeing for a while? If you are having a destination wedding, start talking about the locations you would like to go, and minimize your list. If you want to stay in the South Beach area, then start there.
Guest List
This step is very important, as it allows you to choose a venue that fits your capacity. When it comes to planning an Indian wedding especially, this becomes the first thing we need to know, as this step will help save you from future headaches.
Guest Experience
What is the overall experience you want to give your guests? Is the space able to accommodate your vision? If you want to have champagne waiting for your guests as they enter the property, you need to find a venue that allows them to have that experience. Think about your out of town guests, as having a location near the airport with shuttle service will definitely be a great one. Will they have things to do around the area? How far is the ceremony location from the reception location, as we do not want your guests to drive too far, as they do deserve an amazing experience.
What are the requirements and what is included?
Would you need to rent additional tables and chairs? Do you want to have an entrance on a helicopter? As we know for an Indian wedding the baraat is important, and figuring out a clear route is a must. Can we have animals on site? If they don’t allow animals on site and you want to arrive on an elephant for your baraat, then the location might not be the right venue for you. You need to find out what is included in the rentals, and what these extra fees will be if there’s any. If you want elaborate decor, then you have to know if the venue would allow for that kind of set up.
Budget
Don’t forget about the budget. If you find a venue that has everything you are looking for, but will eat a huge chunk of your budget, you might have to reconsider. How much are the service fee, and taxes? Because when you do add these up, you get a clearer estimate on what your true cost will be like.
Talk to a wedding planner
If you have not hired a wedding planner yet, this is the time to do so. A wedding planner will have a better insight of where to look, regarding capacity, location, aesthetic, and so much more. Now that you both have a clearer idea of what your must-haves are, your wedding planner is armed with the tools to start researching venues that meet your basic needs. On top of that, your wedding planner will help in information that the venue requires. Answers that you do not have the answers to, such as timing, licenses, staffing needs, set up, etc.
You may not find the perfect venue, but remember you can find a venue that has most of the things you need.
