Olive and Black wedding, anyone? Read how you can use it at your wedding.
With all of the details that go into planning a wedding, selecting the wedding colors has to be one of my favorite. There’s just something about figuring out the one detail that brings a whole wedding and theme together. There are so many incredible color combinations, some that can be used year round (such as navy) while others fit with the season.
This winter, one of our favorite wedding color combination is olive and black. Black is of course a color that goes with everything and you can’t go wrong. As for olive, it’s pretty much the new neutral of 2017 so not only does it match a ton of colors, it looks good on almost everyone.
So where can we incorporate these wedding colors?
For the bride:
Adding your wedding colors to your flowers can be one of the of the easiest choices. So perhaps, using olive accents in the bouquet! I also love a clean, olive bridesmaid dress. It’s not too bright, yet still adds nice, neutral pop of color. Add a little baby’s breath in the hair and you can feel the winter vibes.

As for the groom:
During the winter, we love to see a nice black tuxedo or suit. The Black Tux is a great option for their solid array of suit and tuxedo colors, and the sharp look of the black is easily complimented by olive. Whether it’s the tie, the socks or the boutonniere, the olive will certainly pop.
Let’s talk food:
Now most weddings don’t pick the entrees based on their color, but there are ways to pull in that color scheme and theme. Dirty Martinis a favorite? Add an olive bar to the mix! Not only does this give you an opportunity to literally bring olive into your wedding, but who doesn’t love a good extra dirty martini?
Lastly, black and olive decor:
Don’t just limit yourself to these two colors-gold compliments them nicely! Think of extravagant gold vases with green leaves and flowers. Adding olive green tapestries on each chair not only ties in the color scheme, but it also adds elegance. And of course the cake; now one would argue that the cake isn’t considered decor. But until the cake is cut, it sits beautifully catching the guest’s gazes. This is a real opportunity to tie in the gorgeous colors. Picture this: a white and gold 3-tier cake with beautiful olive-toned greenery accents — classy yet appetizing!
