Bonjour mes amis,
Congratulations to all recent Mr. and Mrs, and to those recently engaged couples. As you go on with your everyday life, your bling, which is one of your most important piece of jewelry, will be shinning on your finger. But life happens, you will need to take showers, bubble baths or simply washing your hands, and the soap scum will leave film on your ring, and your body lotion will leave a buildup.
Have you ever wondered how to keep the shine forever? Here are some tips to take care of the one thing you will always be rocking day in and out.
1. Take it off. When you are taking a shower, cleaning the house with harsh chemicals, and doing rough yard work, leave the diamond ring in it’s special box away from other jewelry pieces, which will prevent scratch marks on your precious jewel.
2. Clean it at home. Once or twice a week mix warm water with clear hand soap and scrub with a soft toothbrush. That will restore the shine.
OR
Heat up a little bit of Windex for about 10 seconds, then soak your ring in the Windex for 1 minute. Rinse it off under warm water and scrub with a soft toothbrush. The ammonia helps break up any oils that collects between the stones without damaging your ring, but be careful and make sure your type of stone can endure the ammonia.
3. Visit your jeweler. Just as you need a medical check-up every once and a while, so does your ring. Do your engagement ring a favor and take it to a jeweler who can professionally clean, inspect, and care for your piece.
Although known as the hardest gemstone, diamonds are not indestructible and can in fact be damaged by a hard blow. So, take good care of your rings, when wearing or cleaning them.
